We Discover, Learn, Conserve, and Preserve
Baran Dance creates, presents, and offers contemporary dance performances and classes for a wide spectrum of performing artists, audiences, and student demographics. Through professional concert work in a range of formats and venues as well as educational and mentoring programs for emerging dance artists, we cultivate appreciation for and accessibility to contemporary dance as a staple of arts, culture, and community engagement throughout Charlotte, NC and regional areas. Known for our creative collaborations with local musical, visual, and literary artists, Baran Dance utilizes bold physicality and poignant nuance to craft a uniquely human experience for existing and unrealized dance fans. As a multifaceted organization, we provide paid performance opportunities for professional performing artists, internships for university students, and mentorship for high school dancers. Through every aspect of our artistic and educational endeavors, Baran Dance is committed to elevating bodies and creative voices from diverse histories, particularly minority and female identifying movement artists, and works to further accessibility, inclusion, and equity in contemporary dance throughout the Southeast.
